Once a year in the Slag Glass City we put out a special call for submissions on a particular urban-focused theme, in conjunction with our editor’s DePaul Publishing Institute course: Idealists and Happy Fools—The American Literary Magazine. In this class, a mix of undergraduate and graduate students spend an academic quarter exploring the history of the American literary magazine through the study of digital and physical archives. At the end of the term, we spend two lively class sessions choosing work to publish from the special call. Here is the content list of these selections:
