I’ve always been attracted by the everyday and ordinary, thinking that imperfections add value. “Marble & Tar” is about a contrast between two kinds of pavements in my town, Bologna, Italy. The marble was used to pave the sidewalks of the porticos in the center of town, especially in correspondence with important buildings. The photos of the marble were taken under the portico of the Archiginnasio, once the main building of the University of Bologna. The photos of the asphalt were taken beside the ring road that’s the imaginary border between the center and the first suburb of the city.
