In the Urban Appetites section of Slag Glass City we hope to take part in contemporary conversations about food in the city—from food justice to vertical farming to urban food deserts to local food production to the politics of hunger to urban soil remediation to community gardens to sustainable food consumption to even, perhaps, a delicious green city recipe or two.

The photo above is from the famous Growing Power Farm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and to start things off we share here a short (less than three minutes) video (click the arrow in the header above) about a year in the life of another urban agriculture project, the Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farm in New York City.

If you have ideas for a essay or article you’d like to develop for this part of the  journal please send us an email pitch.
